Mr. Hobby is the Managing Partner of Genesis Park, L.P. Since its founding in late 1999, Genesis Park has executed a number of successful communications and energy technology transactions, including Alpheus Communications, CapRock Services, FuelQuest, Red Arrow Energy, Avalon Partners, Commercial American Insurance Company, Vivante GMP Solutions, SAT Corporation, Western General Holdings and Intermat. Prior to Genesis Park, Mr. Hobby conceived a technology strategy for integrating media operations through improved information technology. That company, Columbine JDS Systems, Inc., became the largest provider of media software and services in the world. Mr. Hobby has served on a number of the board of a number of leading public and private companies including: NRG, Eagle Global Logistics, Inc., Stewart Title, Coastal Banc, Amegy Bank of Texas, Aronex Pharmaceuticals, BASE Entertainment, Texas Genco and CapRock Communications. Mr. Hobby is a graduate of the University of Virginia and the University of Texas School of Law, where he has served as an adjunct faculty member and been honored as an Outstanding Young Alumnus, and has been a guest lecturer at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. He is currently the Chairman of the Houston Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, and has been Chairman of the Texas General Services Commission, The Texas Business Hall of Fame, and held a number of other community leadership positions over time.

 

Peter Shaper

Peter Shaper is the Chairman and CEO of Greenwell Energy Solutions.  Greenwell is a specialty chemical company providing a broad range of chemical solutions to the upstream oil and gas industry.  Mr. Shaper joined as a founder of the company in 2012. 

Prior to Greenwell, Mr. Shaper served as the CEO of CapRock Communications where he led its acquisition from McLeod in 2002 through to its sale to Harris Corporation in 2011.  CapRock is a global satellite communications provider serving the energy, government and maritime industries.  During his tenure CapRock grew from a primarily domestic player with $30 million in revenue to the leading global player in its market with over $600 million in revenue. 

Mr. Shaper is also a founding partner of Houston based private equity group Genesis Park.  Genesis Park focuses on buyouts, partnering strategies with public corporations, and growth financing bringing each company capital, commercial execution capabilities and a depth of experience in mergers and acquisitions.  

Previously, Mr. Shaper was the president of Donnelley Marketing, a division of First Data Corporation.  He was directly responsible for the turnaround of the $100 million revenue database marketing company which led to a successful sale to a strategic buyer.  In 1996, Mr. Shaper helped found the Information Management Group (IMG) as its Executive Vice President of Operations and CFO.  IMG grew to more than $600 million in revenue during his tenure.  Prior to joining IMG, Mr. Shaper was with a Dallas-based private equity firm where he was responsible for investments in numerous technology oriented companies, as well as assisting those companies with developing long-term strategies and financial structures.  Mr. Shaper also has several years of experience with the international consulting firm McKinsey & Company.   

Mr. Shaper holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Stanford University.  Mr. Shaper currently serves on the board of directors of Greenwell Energy Solutions, Genesis Park, ipDatatel, HMS Income Fund and Hines Global REIT as well as the non-profit boards of the Greater Houston Community Foundation, Prepared for Life and Knowledge Is Power Prep Schools. 

Steven J. Gibson
Founding Partner

Complimenting his role as a founder and partner of Genesis Park, Steve Gibson has over twenty-five years of experience in real estate and other business transactions, both as legal counsel and principal. After graduating from the Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1985, Mr. Gibson moved to Houston to join the law firm of Fulbright & Jaworski. After many years of transactional work and work-outs, Mr. Gibson left F&J to pursue business opportunities on his own. Mr. Gibson has engaged in a variety of entrepreneurial activities, including the acquisition and development of numerous retail, office, and industrial real estate projects in Texas; the creation and growth of a residential construction company; the acquisition of hotel and resort properties; the acquisition, formation and growth of businesses in the auto and truck parts markets; the formation and growth of a biotech firm specializing in third party manufacturing of viral vectors. Currently, Mr. Gibson is the president of Western General Holding Company, a Houston-based real estate company that focuses primarily on urban redevelopment opportunities, particularly on commercial and industrial buildings strategically located within Houston's 610 Loop. In addition to his law degree from SMU, Mr. Gibson received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Notre Dame.

Cathy Leeson
CFO

Ms. Leeson is the Chief Financial Officer of Genesis Park. Since 1997, Ms. Leeson has served as the Chief Financial Officer of Hobby Communications where she oversees investments and related tax and accounting issues. From 1985 through 1996, Ms. Leeson served as Corporate Tax Manager and then Vice President and Treasurer of H & C Communications, which owned a group of television and radio stations. Ms. Leeson was previously a Tax Manager of Deloitte, Haskins & Sells, where she served for eight years. Ms. Leeson, a Certified Public Accountant, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from Southwestern University and a Master of Professional Accounting degree from the University of Texas.

Stephanie Adams
Director of Research

Ms. Adams serves as Genesis Park's Director of Research and is responsible for database administration and reporting for Genesis Park's deal, partner and talent tracking tools. Ms. Adams also plays a key part in deal screening and due diligence. Prior to joining Genesis Park, Ms. Adams worked as the Director of Training for the Computer Division of Pro Staff Personnel Services. Ms. Adams has also owned and operated a database training and administration company whose clients included EECC, Battle Mountain Gold, Hoechst Celanese and Baylor.
